Mental Health
We believe it is vital that all our students are able to enjoy a well-balanced lifestyle in which they are able to find support when needed for their wellbeing. From time to time you may experience periods in which you need additional support from the University with regards to your mental health.
The University provide a free and confidential counselling service to all students and staff. The service offers a range of support including self-help materials and wellbeing workshops. To find out more visit the counselling website.
Out of Hours University Support
If you are worried about your emotional health and are having thoughts of self-harm or suicide out of University hours you can still access help immediately.
Do try to tell someone about how you are feeling. This could be a trusted friend, a family member or someone who is with you now.
If no-one is available there are a number of people you can contact who will listen and provide you with immediate support:
If you feel that your life is in imminent danger then do not hesitate to go to Accident and Emergency at the nearest hospital or call 999 for an ambulance. Yes, it is okay to call them for a mental health crisis. At the hospital you may have to wait, but you will be able to see a Mental Health Professional who can help.
We also recommend that every student registers with a doctor whilst studying at the University. The nearest surgery is: http://www.bradfordstudenthealth.co.uk/
